解放初期，湘西匪患严重，国民党残党败部与当地土匪勾结，为害乡里，当地民众怨声载道。人民解放军剿匪小分队队长、人送外号“东北虎”的刘玉堂，带领剿匪小分队深入大山，和匪首田大榜、钻山豹、独眼聋以及国民党女特务四丫头等反动势力展开一连串殊死搏斗。剿匪小分队在付出巨大的牺牲之后，终于将匪患根绝。。Written by Kosta Kondilopoulos, the film follows two gamblers who are released from prison and decide to open an illegal casino. Pick Tarantino is set to portray the girlfriend of one of the two protagonists, who become entangled with the mafia throughout the film.。
