明治维新初期，淡路的稻田家遵循新政府的命令移居北海道，在恶劣的环境中努力开垦。当废藩置县的新政策传到此地后，家臣小松原带领大家接受命运，决心在那里建立属于自己的新家园。小松原为了寻求能在苦寒中生长的水稻前往札幌，但久久未归。妻子志乃带着女儿出发寻找丈夫，在大雪中体力不支倒下。五年后，被人所救的志乃和女儿一起经营着一个牧马场，辛劳度日。而政府不顾当地蝗灾之苦，要征收马匹用于战争，前来征马的政府官员竟然正是当年一去不回的小松原。志乃仍以妻子之礼相待，而已经改名换姓的小松原却已经另外组织了新家庭…。From a refugee camp on the Turkish-Syrian border, an 8-year-old girl, EVLIN, characterizes the resistance of her homeland. Her heroes, the Kurdish female fighters, are defending the city of Kobane against the onslaught by ISIS militants. The power of the human spirit emanates through Evlin as she shows us that hope and resilience prevail even in the most tragic of circumstances...。
